United States – President Joe Biden and his team, alongside Sen. Bernie Sanders, on Wednesday were promoting the administration’s efforts to reduce the cost of inhalers and other health needs to society as part of the White House’s effort to remind the American people of what has been achieved by Biden as they prepare for the midterm elections, as reported by The Associated Press.
Lowering Inhaler Costs
“Bernie, you and I have been fighting this for 25 years,” Biden said to Sanders during an event in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building next door to the White House. “Finally, finally, we beat Big Pharma. Finally.”
Affordable Healthcare for Americans
Both men were talking about the very low prices of healthcare via the Dem’s comprehensive climate, health care, and taxes bill, which was passed into law at the end of 2022. It limits a person’s health care expenses, such as a maximum USD 35-dollar monthly bill for insulin, and USD ,000 a year for drugs, for those on Medicare. The Republican legislator was against the law.
His team and supporters emphasize Biden’s achievements, such as reducing health care prices, yet the incumbent has not yet received enough credit from the public. Sanders’ fans back his ideas on the issue of cost containment in the United States health system and the government exercising more authority in the healthcare sector.
Biden’s statements on Wednesday didn’t seem to talk of how other players in the industry, like the health insurers, are also responsible for spiking the price of medications.
Focus on Inhaler Prices
Accordingly, both Biden and Sanders, in their latest attempts at asthma inhalers, got the most notable inhaler brands to cap their monthly prices to not higher than USD 35. On the other hand, the purchase price for a one-time inhaler is somewhere betweenUSD 200 and USD 00 without insurance. However, the White House added. The manufacturers argue that the new price changes will be effective from next year or the beginning of next.
“I want to thank President Biden for what he has done on this issue up to now, and I look forward to working with the president as we go forward,” Sanders said, as reported by The Associated Press.
Sanders, who had an independent status from the state of Vermont identified with the Democrat Party in the 2020 presidential election and was against Biden in the Democratic presidential nomination. After Sanders bowed out, his managers put in collaboration with the Biden campaign team to produce a party policy platform that would reflect the presence of Sanders in the Sanders’ agenda.
